We are looking to hire a Programme Associate who will play a critical role in OCPL’s continued growth. We are interested in candidates with excellent event coordination, organisational and project management skills as well as a demonstrated ability to operate across disciplines and sectors. This role would offer access to a broad network of experts and potential research and travel opportunities.

Job Title: OCPL Programme Associate (Operations)

Commitment: Part time (15-20 hours/week) for 1 year, with the possibility of contract extension and/or expansion to full time role with increased writing and public engagement responsibilities 

Compensation: £16-20/Hour (depending on candidate experience)

Job Description: The Programme Associate will work closely with OCPL’s leadership and will be responsible for helping OCPL implement a range of projects at the intersection of US-China relations and emerging technology policy. Primary responsibilities will be centred around the OCPL Fellowship, the annual conference, and programme monitoring and evaluation. Within the team, the Programme Associate will conduct the following activities throughout the course of the year:

Fellowship

  • Contribute to fellow recruitment efforts

  • Lead on fellowship communication, coordination, and day-to-day logistics

  • Develop and track success metrics for fellowship programme evaluation 

Events

  • Coordinate logistics for OCPL’s annual conference

  • Coordinate logistics for external-facing events with government counterparts, researchers, and other relevant stakeholders across nationalities

  • Support expert dialogues and workshops as needed 

  • Manage logistics for annual team retreats

Programme support 

  • Support internal coordination and communication, including managing meetings and taking and distributing meeting minutes

  • Track metrics for monitoring and evaluation of organisational workstreams

  • Contribute to special projects as needed, including research projects

  • Facilitate reimbursements and manage financial documentation, for fellowship and other programmes

  • Book travel arrangements for team members and guests

  • Support Chief of Staff to plan annual team retreats

Required:

  • Outstanding organisational skills in the context of managing complex long-term projects 

  • Strong professional interpersonal skills conducive to cultivating a supportive and healthy internal working atmosphere

  • Experience in event planning or coordination

  • Excellent time management and task management skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.,), Google Workspace, and Slack

Preferred:

  • Based in Oxford, UK

  • Mandarin or other language skills 

  • Strong project management, monitoring, and evaluation skills

  • Interest in or knowledge of China-related policy issues and emerging technologies
